Ricky Smith is a native of Omaha, Nebraska and has been working in the youth development field for over 22 years. He has led strategies that have served in the areas of intervention and prevention, truancy reduction, credit recovery, college and career preparation, not to mention serving as a mentor to thousands of young people.
Smith is also the founder of the Real World Educational Conference a youth conference that allows students to dialogue and debate with each other and young professionals about real world issues, and is also the Founder of Urban League University. He has a passion for service, is selfless and dedicated to the Omaha community and the people who live in it.
As a leader in the community, Smith has been a coach in youth sports and also is an advocate for education as he currently serves on the Omaha Public School’s Board of Education and the Nebraska Association of School Boards. He is a motivational speaker, collegiate lecturer and most importantly a father to his two sons Darrick and Damari Smith.
